Mathtype 790E Q: I have installed MathType, and although it appeared to install OK, it does not appear in Word as an option on the menubar. If I start it by selecting Start -> Programs -> Mathtype, it runs fine. A: This situation can be rectified by manually replacing the MathType Commands for Word by following these steps: Upon installation MathType 4.0 places a file called "MathType Commands for Word" into Word's startup folder. It may be that this file has become corrupted or is missing, so you should try replacing it with a fresh copy. To find the location of your Word startup folder, launch Word. Choose Options from the Tools menu of Word. Click on the file locations tab. Click on Startup, then click on modify in order to see the full path. Write down the location of the Word startup folder. Launch Windows Explorer and open the Office Support folder in your MathType folder. There is a copy of "MathType Commands for Word" in it. To place a new copy of "MathType Commands for Word" into your Word Startup folder, right-click on it and choose copy. Then, right-click on your Word 97 startup folder and select paste. You want to place a copy there, rather than moving the file, so that you retain a spare copy, should you need it later. If this does not work, please contact technical support by e-mailing .
