Mathtype 6892 MathType 3.6 is compatible with Office 2001. Because of some changes in the organization of Word 2001, however, the MathType commands add-in, which adds the "square root of alpha" button to Word's toolbar and additional commands to Microsoft Word's Insert and Tools menu, is not automatically installed and must be installed manually. To manually place MathType add-in into the appropriate startup folder, do the following: There is a copy of "MathType Commands for Word 98" in your MathType 3 folder in a folder called Word Support. Make a copy of this file on your desktop by holding down the option key and dragging it onto the desktop. Place this copy in your Word 2001 Startup folder and run Word. (By default, your Word Startup folder is located at: Microsoft Office 2001:Office:Startup:Word. If you have designated a different Startup folder, place the MathType Commands in the folder that you designated.) This should give you access to the MathType Commands in Word 2001. If the MathType commands are still not appearing, make sure that under the View menu of Word, "Word 5.1 menus" is NOT checked. The installer is currently being revised so that it will install the MathType macros automatically. The new version which installs the macros automatically in Word 2001 will formally be released as MathType 3.7. Design Science hope to release 3.7 before the end of the year. MathType 3.6 users will be able to upgrade to 3.7 at no charge by downloading it from our website. Mathtype 3.6 en
