GetaRef for Windows and Year 2000 Compliance

Year 2000 compliance: Five criteria

Year 2000 compliance means that software and hardware resources meet the following five (5) criteria and/or perform as follows:

1.    Software and hardware designed to be used prior to, during, and after the calendar year 2000 will operate without error  relating to date data. This includes, but is not limited to, date data century indication and recognition, sorts are correct, data  entry will accommodate century where appropriate, and calculations are correct that accommodate same century and multi-century formulas.
2.    Software and hardware will not abnormally end or provide invalid or incorrect results due to date data, especially between  centuries.
3.    All calculations and logic of time-related data (dates, duration, days of week, etc.) will produce the expected results for all  valid date values within the application. Calculations and logic include sort algorithms, calendar generation, event recognition, and all processing actions that use or produce data values.
4.    For any date element represented without century, the correct century is unambiguous for all manipulations involving that  element.
5.    The meaning of dates presented in reports and screens must be unambiguous.

GetARef for Windows meets Year 2000 Compliance Criteria

GetARef is a reference handling software that is used to organise reprint collections, to import reference information and to generate properly formatted bibliographies and short citation forms in manuscripts.

•    GetARef manage dates in one context only, viz., the publication year of published papers.
•    GetARef stores and presents publication dates in text format rather than by using a specific data type.
•    When GetARef sorts publications by publication year, the sorting is performed on the text strings representing the publication year and is therefore carried out correctly whether a paper was published before or after year 2000.

Year 2000 Compliance Vendor Warranty for GetARef

Because GetARef successfully meets Year 2000 compliance, DatAid, the developer of GetARef, warrants GetARef for its Year 2000 compliance.

Specifically, DatAid warrants that the numerical change of the calendar year from 1999 to 2000 will not affect the functionality of GetARef with regard to dates, and that GetARef continues to manage and manipulate data involving dates without an abnormally ending scenario within the application or the generation of incorrect values involving such dates.
