ChemOffice

Print Y2K form

Starting with ChemOffice Ltd, version 3.1, released in 1995, and ChemOffice Std or Pro, version 3.5, released in 1996, we have evaluated our products' compliancy with Year 2000 dating problems. Our tests and analyses show that the ChemOffice Suite of products (including ChemDraw, Chem3D and ChemFinder) will not have a problem with the transition to the 21st century.

REASONS:

ChemOffice products do not use date information in any application critica calculations.

All calls in order to determine the current date are done using standard system calls (under Macintosh OS, Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups 3.11, Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51 or Windows NT 4.0). Both Apple and Microsoft have company statements concerning their Year 2000 compliancy. The appropriate company statements can be obtained from:

NOTES:

ChemDraw and Chem3D do use dates for its implementation of footers and for storing information about file creation and modification dates. This footer is for display purposes only and is primarily used to indicate when a file was printed. The format for dates in the footer is to use the last two digits for the year. The file creation and modification dates are stored with the file, but are not used in any form for calculations.

We currently have no plans to change this behaviour since it has no impact on the usability or functionality of the software.

Future versions of ChemFinder will allow entering of date fields into databases. ChemFinder interfaces with other databases through ODBC (Open Database Connectivity). Again you need to check with your specific ODBC database provider to check their statement about Year 2000 compliancy. We will confirm that the use of date fields within ChemFinder comply with Year 2000 dating standards.
