Aim of the courses

These courses will show you how to make the best and full use of Mathcad's unique document interface and powerful problem solving features. The courses are highly interactive; questions and feedback are welcome throughout the course. Our goal is to engage all participants in the learning process.

The courses focus on the practical application of Mathcad. They are ideally suited to anyone who needs to use maths as a tool to solve problems; this includes engineers, scientists, teachers and other technical professionals.

Day One - Getting to grips with Mathcad

Who should attend?
Anyone who is using Mathcad software for the first time or who has just a basic knowledge as a result of periodic use.

During the day you will learn about:

An introduction to the Mathcad interface
Defining variables, and entering and editing equations
Functions
2D and 3D plots
Conditional functions
Units and Dimensions

Day Two - Exploring Mathcad

Who should attend?
This course is ideal for anyone who already has a good working knowledge of Mathcad's functions and capabilities, but would like to find out about the software's advanced features.

During the day you will learn about:

Symbolic operations - including integration, differentiation, symbolic equation solving etc.
Matrices and vectors
Importing and exporting data
Integrating Mathcad and Excel
Data analysis - curve-fitting, interpolation, extrapolation etc
Equation solving - ODEs, simultaneous linear equations, implicit equations, polynomials

Training Aftercare

The course fee includes 2 hours of aftercare and consultancy - this can be via the phone, webex or email. In that time you can:

Reinforce and recap concepts taught in the course
Ask application-specific questions
Hunt down gremlins or modify existing worksheets

Trainer Profile:

Surak Perera

After having graduated with a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southampton, won an industrial sponsorship to work in mathematical modelling of fluid systems with a particular focus on developing custom turbulence models for CFD applications. He has considerable experience of using CAD software and has solved many engineering problems with a wide range of software tools.
