NWA Quality Analyst: Top Quality

A new version of the market-leading SPC software, NWA Quality Analyst, offers some very real benefits to users in manufacturing and laboratories.

It's been almost nine years since we were able to announce a new version of NWA Quality Analyst, the flagship software from the newly rebranded Northwest Analytics - the market leader in Statistical Process Control (SPC). NWA Quality Analyst has been at the heart of many notable companies’ quality departments since it was first released in the early nineties and we regularly speak to some of our 'long time' customers who proudly recall using the initial DOS-based version. The latest offering of Quality Analyst 6.2 boasts both new functionality and improved performance whilst also remaining in sync with the latest developments in Windows processors and operating systems.

Strategically, NWA Quality Analyst 6.2 now offers IT Departments more flexibility in terms of upgrading their hardware as it fully supports 64-bit Windows as well as being compatible with Windows 7. Users of older versions will be pleased to learn that existing files can be readily updated and that the migration process is likely to be entirely seamless. However, unlike some recent updates to other suppliers’ SPC software, the NWA Quality Analyst user interface remains much the same as its predecessor, enabling existing users to continue with their established work flow whilst also enjoying the fusion of better performance and extended analysis functions. The most popular new feature is the new Data Breakdown tool which enables you to quickly generate control charts split by descriptor e.g. Shift, Machine or any other identifier. Previously the production of multiple charts to show changes in process performance over changing shift patterns would have taken a number of mouse clicks and plenty of dataset filtering. Now it’s there at the click of a button.

Customers who have discovered the power of automating their analysis will be pleased to find a new function for testing Run files has been added, so it's easy to check everything works without ever leaving the wizard. There is also a direct link to modify your Run files in Notepad which is ideal for repeating common charting procedures and applying them to different variables or datasets. A new Run file command will also let you name your chart files with the current date and time, which is useful for taking a snapshot of key performance indicators and storing them for future use. In addition, Northwest Analytics has also partnered with Infometrix to create a fully integrated solution for multivariate modelling and SPC charting. This overcomes many of the barriers to the adoption of multivariate process monitoring and improvement techniques. NWA Quality Analyst's optional multivariate SPC module combines with Infometrix Pirouette® to simplify the data-collection, model-building and deployment process for off-line and real-time applications.

Another module for NWA Stability Analytics™ delivers the statistical analysis, charting and reporting required for routine product-lot stability studies and shelf-life prediction as described in the FDA/ICH guidelines. This module lets life science users perform routine stability analysis using NWA Quality Analyst, making it the true standard for both manufacturing-process and laboratory-method SPC.
