Everyone's talking about... Six Sigma

It’s the buzzword we hear more and more – Six Sigma. Originally a methodology to identify and eliminate
defects in the manufacturing process, it has developed into a disciplined
program to measure and manage the process variations that cause defects.
Six
Sigma is actually a Motorola trademark (it was developed there some 20
years ago) and that company reckons it has saved them over $17 billion
in that time!
If you want to know more about Six Sigma, ask for our white
paper, The Role of Statistical Process Control in Six Sigma. It includes
a terrific, concise overview of Six Sigma by John Surak of Clemson University
which should be compulsory reading for everyone interested in quality and
process improvement.
There’s also a review explaining how NWA statistical
process control software plays a key role in Six Sigma by collecting accurate,
timely and relevant data; performing the necessary tests including hypotheses,
Design of Experiments, regression and multivariate analyses; and implementing
a robust, ongoing control process. Finally, a case study describes how
Dow Chemical Company uses NWA Quality Analyst to support their Six Sigma
program. |
