Working better together

Article: Working better together

If you’re involved in collaborative research, ensuring that you and your co-workers stay abreast of each others’ work is bound to be an issue. That’s why Reference Manager, one of the “big two” software packages for bibliographic reference management, has evolved into a true networking and information sharing tool.

The Network Version of Reference Manager 10 doesn’t skimp on the Internet searching and database management tools of the single-user version. And as you can search across multiple reference libraries simultaneously, you and your colleagues can create and maintain as many separate databases as you need. With a suitable Link Server such as SFX, every team member can navigate between independently supported online databases too.

Another boon in Reference Manager 10 Network Version is the inclusion of four dedicated fields in each reference where you can store links to full-text documents, PDF files, images and more. So colleagues simply click through to any source or supplementary material you’ve stored on the network - or on the Internet.

What’s more, when you put a citation into your Word document, all the reference data is attached so that colleagues can add, edit and re-format them along with the main text. That’s real collaborative working!
