Two new extension packs for Mathcad make the world's leading technical calculation software an ideal general working environment for many design engineers, electronic engineers and imaging specialists.
The Image Processing Extension Pack Version 3 for Mathcad 2000 provides a powerful solution for iterative exploration and investigative analysis.
It provides a total of over 140 built-in image processing functions. Highlights include filtering for denoising of images, Morphology to achieve sharper image characterisations for object identification, Edge Detection, Segmentation and Feature Extraction to quantify object features such as length and size. There's an all-new image viewer with interactive image manipulation capabilities and the ability to handle BMP, GIF, JPG, PCX, TARGA, PGM and TIFF file formats.
Equally interesting is the Signal Processing Extension Pack. Ideal for electrical engineering, this Extension Pack comes with more than 60 signal processing functions, and lets you perform many variations of signal analysis, including acoustic or optical and analogue or digital.
For example, you can generate coefficients for an FIR lowpass filter, convolve the impulse response with a test signal, and plot the input and output signals for comparison. You can see the results immediately and explore the effects of changing parameters in your routines.
These two new offerings take their place in a wide range of Extension Packs which customise Mathcad for particular applications, giving a range of specialist features which really puts the software to work.
