TCM - 16 : Data Acquisition

Free data acquisiton newsletter

Are you on the mailing list for one of the most interesting publications around on data acquisition? Adept Scientific's Data Acquisition News was mailed out to thousands of people a few weeks back, but if you didn't get your copy, now's the chance to get hold of one.
Articles in the first issue include a look at how a series of data acquisition boards are key to a successful design of dynamometer used for testing racing car engines as well as trucks and boats. The high-performance dynamometers, produced by JKM Automotive, enable engines to be optimised for racing in about one hour.
There's also a look at a French-designed futuristic house which actually rotates with the sun. Again, the control is dependent on digital I/O hardware as well as a user interface written in Visual Basic.
Adept's data acquisition experts have contributed a 'frequently asked questions' column to the newsletter, which this issue answers the question: "With PCI slots replacing ISA slots in most new PCs, will I have to scrap my existing designs?".
And the issue is rounded off with a look at how one manufacturer is aiming to meet the specific demands of the OEM market.  Data Acquisition News is available free of charge.
