Are you on the mailing list for one of the most interesting publications around on data acquisition? Adept Scientific's Data Acquisition News was mailed out to thousands of people a few weeks back, but if you didn't get your copy, now's the chance to get hold of one. Articles in the first issue include a look at how a series of data acquisition boards are key to a successful design of dynamometer used for testing racing car engines as well as trucks and boats. The high-performance dynamometers, produced by JKM Automotive, enable engines to be optimised for racing in about one hour. There's also a look at a French-designed futuristic house which actually rotates with the sun. Again, the control is dependent on digital I/O hardware as well as a user interface written in Visual Basic. Adept's data acquisition experts have contributed a 'frequently asked questions' column to the newsletter, which this issue answers the question: "With PCI slots replacing ISA slots in most new PCs, will I have to scrap my existing designs?". And the issue is rounded off with a look at how one manufacturer is aiming to meet the specific demands of the OEM market. Data Acquisition News is available free of charge. |
