Control and data acquisition system developers working in Windows 95 and NT environments now have an affordable collection of dedicated ActiveX controls with the launch of VIX COMponents from ComputerBoards.
The controls allow professional applications for control and data acquisition to be created simply by 'dropping' them on to a form. They include analogue meter, strip chart, oscilloscope, knob and a range of functions including integration, FFT and interpolation/extrapolation.
VIX COMponents can be used in several different development environments, such as Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft Visual C++, Microsoft Visual J++ and Microsoft ActiveX Control Pad. The collection, will be of particular interest to OEM developers already attracted to the extremely low cost/high performance combination offered by ComputerBoards hardware. A runtime version is available, allowing systems developed with VIX COMponents to be distributed in unlimited quantities.
Developing with VIX COMponents takes control and data acquisition system design a step even beyond some of the specialist software available for the purpose. All of the ActiveX controls can be given exactly the look and feel required: properties such as caption, name, border, style, OffLabel and more can all be customised. 'Methods' can be invoked at runtime to carry out specific actions for example, the FIR filter has a Method named FilterData which will filter an array of values. 'Events' can be fired by controls, invoking 'handlers'. |
