Adept Scientific (Letchworth, Herts) has added the USB-3101FS from Measurement Computing Corporation (Norton, Massachusetts) to its range of ruggedised, affordable USB-devices.

The USB-3101FS with its robust metal outer casing is ideal for harsher environments and treatment.  Ingress protected to IP40, the USB-3101FS is capable of withstanding –40 to 70 °C temperature fluctuations.  Coupled with its easy ‘play and plug’ installation, the USB-3101FS is BUS powered making it perfect for working in the field.

With true multi-functionality the rugged USB-3101FS is a 4-channel, 100 kS/s simultaneously updating analogue output module which features ±30 V overvoltage protection, short-circuit protection, low crosstalk, fast slew rate, high relative accuracy and NIST-traceable calibration.  The USB-3101FS module includes a channel-to-earth ground double isolation barrier for safety and noise immunity.

Software included with the USB-3101FS is extensive, including TracerDAQ®, a full-featured, data logging, viewing, and analysis application; Universal Library™, programming libraries and drivers for most popular Windows-based programming languages; Universal Library for LabVIEW™, VIs and program examples for LabVIEW; and InstaCal™ installation, calibration, and test utility.

New lightweight, low-cost USB-based data acquisition from Measurement Computing Corporation

Adept Scientific (Letchworth, Herts) adds the USB-2416-XX data acquisition device from Measurement Computing Corporation (Norton, Massachusetts) to its range.

No other MCC USB-based product offers both the accuracy and input/output voltage range in a lightweight, compact footprint.  The spectrum of different signals and applications to which the USB-2416XX family can be applied gives it a truly multi-functional DAQ role.  Incorporating plug and play flexibility this device gives the user much more adaptability for their money.

The USB-2416XX family is a multi-function measurement and control instrument designed for the USB bus.  It is a multiplexed 24-bit measurement system that provides up to 16 differential and up to 32 single-ended (SE) analogue inputs with a 1 kS/s aggregate throughput.  It offers nine software-selectable analogue input ranges (±20 V, ±10 V, ±5 V, ±2.5 V, ±1.25 V, ±0.625 V, ±0.312 V, ±0.156 V, ±0.078 V).  The analogue inputs can also be configured as thermocouple inputs (up to 16 differentials).  In thermocouple mode, both the USB-2416 and the USB-2416-4AO include built-in cold-junction compensation and open thermocouple detection.

In addition to the analogue inputs the USB-2416-XX includes eight lines of digital I/O and two 32-bit counters, plus four 16-bit analogue outputs with an update rate of 1kS/s, and an output range of ±10 V.

The USB-2416-XX provides 500 VDC isolation between the field wiring and the USB interface.

The PS-5V2AEPS 10-W regulated power supply (included) provides the 5 VDC, 2 A power to the USB-2416-XX.

New 16-channel, multifunction USB DAQ device features BNC inputs

Adept Scientific (Letchworth, Herts) announces the release of Measurement Computing’s (Norton, Massachusetts) USB-1616HS-BNC, a new 1 MS/s, 16-bit multifunction USB data acquisition device with 16 BNC differential analogue inputs. The USB-1616HS-BNC delivers outstanding performance with synchronous and concurrent voltage input, waveform output, counter input, quadrature encoder input and digital I/O in one package.

Based on the popular USB-1616HS series, the USB-1616HS-BNC provides the added security and convenience of BNC connectors.

Unique to the USB-1616HS series is a low-latency, highly deterministic control output mode that operates independently of the PC. In this mode digital, analogue and timer outputs can respond to analogue, digital and counter inputs as fast as 2 µs; at least 1,000 times faster than other USB DAQ product that rely on the PC for decision making.

The USB-1616HS-BNC offers extensive trigger options, ranging from an analogue trigger with 1 µs max latency, to multi-channel triggering, where any combination of analogue, digital and counter input channels can be combined to initiate the trigger. Other trigger modes include digital pattern, level, edge, inside/outside window and pre- and post-trigger.

New high performance USB data acquisition modules

Measurement Computing’s latest products deliver 8 simultaneously sampled, 16-bit analogue inputs at 250 kHz per channel with differential/single ended input options

Measurement Computing Corporation (Norton, Massachusetts), the market leader in low-cost data acquisition, has announced through its UK distributor Adept Scientific (Letchworth, Herts.) the release of two high-speed additions to their growing USB product line: the USB-1608HS and the USB-1608HS-2AO. These new USB-based modules provide true simultaneous data capture of up to eight channels of 16-bit single ended or differential analogue input at 250 kHz per channel.

Both the USB-1608HS and 1608HS-2AO include 16 bits of digital I/O and an extensive suite of software. The USB-1608HS-2AO has an additional two channels of 16-bit analogue output with a range of -10 to +10 volts; these can be configured with a remote sensing option to compensate for voltage drop errors that may occur at the field device.

Both units use a separate A/D converter for each channel; and each device is capable of acquiring data in either a software paced or continuous scan mode. Differential inputs offer increased accuracy by reducing measurement errors caused by ground loops and noise, errors that are often seen with single-ended measurements. There’s also an analogue trigger function that lets the user start and control analogue inputs based on the value of a digital or analogue signal.

A synchronization input line provides an external sampling clock for the analogue inputs; while a synchronization output line enables synchronization with other devices in the system.

Ideal for those who require eight fully simultaneous analogue inputs along with high throughput, differential inputs and analogue outputs, the USB-1608HS and USB-1608HS/AO will find many applications in any field where high speed, accurate measurements are important.
