In this model of non-ideal reactor mixing, a fraction of the volumetric feed rate completely bypasses the mixing in the reactor. In addition, a fraction of the reactor volume exists as dead space.

Assumptions
  • The reaction is assumed to be first order
  • The dead space volume is treated as having a uniform well mixed composition.
