Educational Files

A collection of files which can be used to teach concepts, be given as homework, etc. for advanced high school students and college students.

File sizes are listed at the end of file descriptions, along with the version of Mathcad required. Note that older-version files can be read with newer versions of Mathcad and that Mathcad 3.1 files can be read with either the Macintosh or Windows Mathcad 3.1.

You can find Mathcad 7 versions of these files by following this link.

If you are using the MathSoft Mathbrowser, you'll be able to view most of the following Mathcad files directly (up through Mathcad 5.0). If you are using another Web browser, note that links will take you to the ASCII readout of Mathcad files unless you have configured your browser to use Mathcad as a viewer/helper application. For information about how to do this, look here.

If you'd be willing to contribute a document, please send it to appmath@mathsoft.com. Please uuencode any Mathcad file you send (to ensure its integrity). You may alternatively place such files in our /pub/contrib directory via anonymous ftp, making certain you select the binary mode for the transfer.

There are links at the end of this section to some other WWW sites that have suggestions for using calculation tools in the classroom.

The files listed here have not been tested, approved, or in any way endorsed by MathSoft, Inc. or Adept Scientific; and unfortunately, we cannot provide technical support on these files.

In addition to the few files we've provided here, there are an enormous number of Mathcad files available for teaching college-level physics available at New Mexico State University's ftp site. You'll find a variety of Mathcad files for different areas of physics and different versions of Mathcad.

There are a number of books in print which teach various subjects, and include Mathcad files on disk along with the book. For a list of these, look here.

Check out the page on using Fractals to teach high school mathematics concepts at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. You can use the NCSA's tools if you have an X-terminal, or you could use Mathcad to generate the fractal pictures.
