| Mathcad Application Server Benefits
The Mathcad Application Server is designed to help you manage calculations
in a timely, cost-effective, secure manner. It allows your organization
to:
- Connect the organisation: Distribute interactive Mathcad-based
documents across an entire company, university, extranet or public Website
from a single server, for widespread but protected use. Any calculation,
graphing, or solving tool available in Mathcad 11 can be used to
create an online calculation.
- Compose complex sites easily: Generate complex, interactive
Web-based math applications with no server-side scripting or HTML development.
Existing Mathcad legacy documents can be easily converted to Web-ready
versions for broader distribution and reuse.
- Ensure document integrity: Ensure integrity of the original
algorithm, and free individual workstations for prototyping work. Document
integrity is preserved because worksheets are always saved in their
original state. Only fields designated by the original author can be
changed.
- Communicate math transparently: Deliver documents to users
with little to no experience with Mathcad. The only knowledge required
is how to use an Internet Web browser and form field elements, such
as text boxes, list boxes, and buttons. Documents are rendered as they
are in Mathcad, so mathematics appears in conventional math notation,
along with all text and graphics elements incorporated in the original
Mathcad document.
- Reduce hardware maintenance: Eliminate maintenance of many
desktop Mathcad systems - client machines have only minimal system requirements,
no plug-ins required.
- Control document security: Control access to documents through
Microsoft's Internet Information Services (IIS).
Additional benefits for higher education
- Provide immediate feedback: Deliver interactive, online self-assessments
that allow students to check their understanding of topics discussed
in class, with instantaneous feedback.
- Deliver dynamic tutorials: Make online tutorials available
for self-paced learning that include live math examples.
- Enhance distance learning: Enable effective distance education
with interactive math-based materials.
- Create a solutions library: Create a repository of solutions
to standard problems in engineering for students to use to generate
specific results and analyse them.
- Share resources: Post assignments and solution sets on the
Web that demonstrate calculations dynamically.
- Enable exploration and discovery: Provide explorations that
allow students to experiment with mathematical models and draw conclusions
based on their observations.
