Geometry Expressions for Maple

Geometry Expressions is the world's first Interactive Symbolic Geometry System. This means: geometric figures can be defined by either symbolic constraints or numeric locations. Measurements on your drawing are not only presented numerically, but also expressed symbolically as mathematical expressions which can be exported to Maple for analysis. Where Maple automates the analysis of mathematical expressions, Geometry Expressions automates the creation of those expressions (in the geometry areana). Geometry Expressions is a stand alone application which can be invoked and controlled from within a Maple™ worksheet, or which can communicate with Maple™ via Copy and Paste.

Features list:

  • Constraint based symbolic geometry
  • Sketch based UI
  • Full animation and locus/envelope computation
  • Symbolic computation of distance, angle, area, coordinates, slope, radius
  • Symbolic computation of implicit and explicit equations for loci
  • Native Maple and MathML export

Technical Requirements

  • Windows 2000/XP Home/XP Pro/2003 Server/Vista & Apple Macintosh (Intel)
  • Windows version compatible with Maple 9.5 or higher (tested in Maple 12)
  • Macintosh Intel version compatible with Maple 12
  • Pentium III 650 MHz or better. 256 MB RAM

Author Information
Saltire Software was founded in 1989 as a spin off from Tektronix Computer Research Lab. Our award winning Analytix product line featured constraint based mechanism design, synthesis and analysis. In the early 1990’s the company received NSF SBIR grants which funded early research on symbolic geometry. Since then Saltire has developed mathematical software for leading calculator companies, and developed a category leading optimisation package for the floor covering industry.

Geometry Expressions is the result of a 15 year company research commitment in symbolic geometry.
