Altair Embed (formerly known as solidThinking Embed) is a visual environment for model based development of embedded systems. Its highly efficient diagram-to-code capability shortens the development time and increases product quality.
With Altair Embed, you can quickly develop virtual prototypes of any dynamic system. Models are built by simply sliding blocks into the work area and wiring them together with the mouse.
Embed automatically converts the control diagrams into C-code ready to be downloaded to the target hardware. The generated C-code is recognized for its efficiency with respect to memory requirements and runtime.
Altair Embed represents a new era of VisSim for efficient model-based embedded development including new packaging aimed at providing more functionality with simplified configuration and installation.
Similar to previous versions, there are two main products:
- Altair Embed SE (Simulation Edition) replacing Professional VisSim
- Altair Embed replacing VisSim Embedded (Includes Embed SE)
The number of add-ons have been reduced to two:
- Altair Embed.Digital Power Designer
- Altair Embed/Comm

Altair Embed provides a complete toolchain for the development of embedded control systems covering Software-in-the-Loop, Processor-in-the-Loop as well as Hardware-in-the-Loop simulations. With its full complement of communication blocks and powerful, time-domain simulation engine, Embed/Comm provides fast and accurate solutions for analog, digital, and mixed-mode communication systems.
solidThinking Embed/Comm supports modeling PCCC Turbo Codes. It also supports simulating 802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth, generic, and ultra wide-band designs.
Simulation & Code Generation of Power Supply & Digital Power Controls Using Embed/Digital Power Designer Module
solidThinking Embed/Digital Power Designer provides high-level blocks for simulation and code generation of power supply and digital power components and controls. Embed/Digital Power Designer blocks let you develop a working controller that can be directly downloaded to the MCU for digital power applications.
solidThinking Embed/Digital Power Designer blocks efficiently model analog power supply configurations along with control loops, to simulate and verify the control loop without the need for hardware. This allows you to develop your control routines more flexibly, simulate, verify and make any need correction before sending out Gerbers to manufacture hardware. When your hardware arrives, you can use Embed/Digital Power Designer to compile and download the diagram to the MCU and test your real hardware.
