| Spectral DB - an easy to use spectral
data management tool
Now included as standard in the GRAMS Spectroscopy
Software Suite, Spectral DB is a unique desktop data management tool for
organising spectra and chromatograms into a database. Data stored with
Spectral DB can be easily saved, organised, retrieved, viewed and shared
with others in your workgroup.
Like most databases, it can store textual information such as sample number
and compound name. In addition, Spectral DB can store associated binary
data like spectra and chemical structures, making it not only informational
but also visually adaptable to technical presentations.
Spectral DB is supported by Thermo Scientific’s SmartConvert technology,
giving it the unique capability of being a repository of data files from
hundreds of different analytical instruments. And because Spectral DB
is inherently built to communicate with one’s installed copy of
GRAMS, all the processing, viewing, and plotting capabilities of GRAMS
and its add-on applications can be applied to one's data. A click on a
grid page spectrum launches your installed copy of GRAMS with the spectrum
attached, linking Spectral DB to the most advanced suite of analytical
and data processing tools.

Local Database Access
The Spectral DB database schema is Microsoft Access-based. It is tailored
for the user who wishes to quickly archive spectral and chromatographic
data from one or more supported analytical instruments, store associated
information, extract information from it, create and print presentation
pages. It is built on a "put data in, ask questions, get answers"
structure, making it an instantly useful tool for both novice and advanced
users.
Intuitive Forms Layout and Design
Spectral DB comes with predefined templates of functional spectral and
laboratory archives. These can be used straight out of the box or as starting
points for customized page layouts. These templates enable the user to
be instantly productive. Spectral DB’s multi-paged workbook format
provides versatile ways of displaying data.
Browsing and Querying
Spectral DB’s Browse Mode operations provide easy access to database
records. These include viewing, filtering, querying, sorting, adding,
modifying and deleting records.
