01. What is Tecplot Focus?
Tecplot Focus is engineering plotting software with extensive XY, 2D
and 3D capabilities. It is designed more for measured field data, performance
plotting of test data, mathematical analysis, and engineering plotting
in general. One of the key differentiators between Tecplot Focus and
Tecplot 360 is that Tecplot Focus does not support CFD data formats,
CFD analysis, and transient data.
02. What operating systems are supported?
Tecplot Focus runs on 32-bit operating systems including Windows 2000/XP,
Linux PCs, and Mac OS X 10.3/10.4. Tecplot data files, macro files,
style files are transferable between all different computers. Tecplot
Focus is not available for UNIX.
03. Who uses Tecplot Focus?
Tecplot Focus is for the engineer conducting physical and performance
testing of engineering systems, who needs strong quantitative tools
to quickly and accurately get the job done. Some key capabilities in
Tecplot Focus are:
- Unique, multi-frame layout
- Macros and automation
- XY, 2D, and 3D plotting (vector, scatter, contour,
polar)
- High quality vector and raster output
04. How is Tecplot Focus different from Tecplot
10?
Tecplot Focus is a solution to satisfy engineering groups making performance
plots and other multi-dimensional plots.
Tecplot Focus replaces Tecplot 10 and is currently a sub-set of features
of Tecplot 360. Current Tecplot 10 customers will see very little difference
with this initial release in terms of features and functionality.
Moving forward, you will see enhancements to Tecplot Focus to make it
the best engineering analysis solution available. Programmability and
support for date and time format are among the capabilities we will be
adding.
05. Does Tecplot Focus have the ability to create
3D plots and animations?
Yes. Tecplot Focus has the same great 3D capabilities of Tecplot 10.
You will also still be able to perform animations and export them in
a variety of formats, in amazingly rendered quality.
06. Will Tecplot Focus be available on UNIX?
No. Tecplot, Inc. has made a product development decision to keep Tecplot
Focus to 32-bit operating systems.
