Transfer data between Windows and Spreadsheets

You can transfer data between spreadsheets and edit windows via the Clipboard.

To transfer data from a spreadsheet

Make a selection on the spreadsheet. Click Edit on the menu bar and then click Copy to copy the data onto the Clipboard. Move the mouse to the point where you want the data inserted in the edit window and click the left mouse button. Then use the Paste command on the Edit menu to copy the data from the Clipboard.

To transfer data from a window

Make a selection in the window and use Copy from the Edit menu to copy the data onto the Clipboard. Move the mouse to the cell where you want to start inserting the data in the spreadsheet. Click the left button to make this the active cell. Then use Paste to copy the data from the Clipboard. If the data being transferred includes text values you must ensure that the spreadsheet columns are set to the appropriate type (text or factor). By default, the spreadsheet will be extended with additional rows or columns if their is insufficient room for all the Clipboard data.
You can also paste into a selected range on the spreadsheet. If the Clipboard is larger than the spreadsheet selection the data will be truncated; if the selection is larger than the Clipboard the data will be repeated to fill up the select range.
