Add Data to a Spreadsheet
Add Data from GenStat
You can append new columns to an existing spreadsheet by loading additional
GenStat data structures. To add new columns select the Data in GenStat
item from the Add section on the Spread menu.
Note that to add a column (data structure) it must
contain the same number of rows as the structures within the current spreadsheet, otherwise it
will be opened within a new spreadsheet.
Add Data from a File
You can append new columns to an existing spreadsheet by loading additional
data from a saved file. To add new columns select the Data file
item from the Add section on the Spread menu.
Note that to add columns (data structure) from the file they must
contain the same number of rows as the structures within the current spreadsheet in GenStat.
Calculate New Columns
You can create new columns within an existing spreadsheet by calculating values
from existing columns or other GenStat data structures. The new columns must
have the same number of rows as the current spreadsheet. New columns can be calculated
using the Calculate menu.
Create new rows and columns
You can extend the spreadsheet by inserting new rows or columns and typing in
the data values. You can also use the Clipboard or the Column Fill
menu to automatically generate data that contains patterns of values.
Getting Columns from another Spreadsheet
You can transfer columns between open spreadsheets using the
Get/Move dialog which can be accessed within the
Column section of the Spread menu.
To move columns between spreadsheets both must contain the same number of rows.
Add Results from an Analysis
You can append new columns to an existing spreadsheet by saving the results
from an analysis. Data can be saved using the Save buttons on the
Data or Stats
menus and then displayed in a spreadsheet by selecting the Display as Spreadsheet
option. If the number of rows matches the spreadsheet containing the original, then you can use the
Get/Move dialog to add the results to this spreadsheet.
