Column Protection

This dialog allows you to set protection for individual columns, or for the whole spreadsheet. If a column is protected, the values in that column cannot be changed, although restrictions and reordering of the values (e.g. sorting) are still allowed. If the whole spreadsheet is protected then nothing can be changed.

Column

The column list shows the protection status of each column, with a P prefixing each column that is protected. The protection status of a column may be toggled by double clicking the column name. A column may be selected by clicking on it with the mouse. If the control key is held down when clicking, multiple columns may be selected. The shift key held down when selecting, will select all columns between the currently clicked column and the last selected column.

Select All

Select all the columns in the list to be changed.

Protect

Change the selected columns to be protected (read-only).

Unprotect

Change the selected columns to be unprotected.

Whole Sheet Protected

Displays whether the spreadsheet is globally protected. Clicking this will toggle the spreadsheet protection on or off.

OK

Change the spreadsheet column protections to those displayed and close the dialog.

Cancel

Close the dialog without making any changes.
