Counter/Timer: Counter/timers can be used for applications such as pulse counting, frequency readings, quadrature encoders, pulse generation. Analogue input products are often multi-functional, often with on-board counters as well as analogue I/O. If you require 2 or fewer counter inputs along with other types of I/O channels you may also wish to look at the multifunction analogue input product range.

Multichannel Counter Boards Boards with 5 or 10 counter channels. These boards offer fully configurable counter modes, useful not only for pulse counting and frequency measurement, but also applications such as rate generation and pulse width modulation (PWM.)	Quadrature Encoder Inputs Quadrature encoders output a two channel pulse signal (A and B) with 90 degrees phase difference between them. This allows the detector to sense the direction of movement or rotation. Optionally, there is also an index (Z) channel which on which a single pulse is generated when the zero position is passed.
