New Features in DASYLab 12.0

Installation

DASYLab uses a completely new installer based on MSI which consists of the installation and the subsequent configuration. You can start the configurator in the Windows start menu and modify DASYLab at a later time.

Configurator

Use the configurator to configure and to modify the DASYLab installation according to your tasks. The configurator manages packages which contain, for example, all files for a driver or a function extension. You can perform the following tasks with the configurator:

  • Activate the evaluation version
  • Upgrade, for example, from the basic version to the pro-version.
  • Select, refresh, and add drivers and modules
  • Activate file shortcuts
  • Create packages, for example, to transfer sequences and the associated worksheet libraries in one file.

Example Library

The examples have been revised and documented in a separate help file. Select Help»Examples to open the help. You can then load the examples directly from the help into a second DASYLab instance. Then click Start on the toolbar to start the worksheet.

Select File

The file selection in the module has been standardized. You can now specify a global string in the path specification from which DASYLab reads the file name and the path. You can use the path strings in the string definition to create a path that is independent of the Windows operating system.

Multi-Core Processor

DASYLab now supports all CPUs of a multi-processing system. DASYLab no longer controls the assignment of its threads to the CPUs but leaves the thread management to the operating system used.

Dual-Monitor

DASYLab supports the display on two-screen systems. This means that dialog boxes and other program elements can be displayed on a second monitor.

Graphics in the Layout

The layout now supports graphics in JPG and PNG formats. The PNG filter does not support transparency.

Modules Chart Recorder, Y/t Chart, X/Y Chart

The file path for saving the cursor values can be up to 256 characters long. Select Survey»Save Cursor Data - Options to enter the path in the display window. Driver Development

  • Script Based IVI Driver

    The Python Script-Engine has been integrated in DASYLab 12. Based on this engine a simple driver for the Interchangeable Virtual Instrument (IVI) interface was developed. The IVI interface offers the modules IVI Counter, IVI DCPower, IVI DMM, and IVI Switch which support the following devices:

    The NI-DAQmx driver executes all valid tasks and logs invalid, rejected tasks when synchronizing the Measurement Automation Explorer (MAX). You can view the logfile under Help»NI-DAQmx»Driver Information.

    An NI library has been integrated in DASYLab which improves access to a CANdb parameter file for the CAN driver from National Instruments, IXXAT, and Vector.
