Direct Drive Rotary Servo
Challenge:
Design a control system to command the position
or velocity of the output shaft.
Description:
A high quality direct drive DC motor is mounted
in a solid aluminum frame. The motor drives a 6 contact pancake slipring
mechanism. The slipring is fitted with mounting holes and two 5 Pin
Din terminals. Rotary motion modules attach to the output shaft using
two 8-32 thumbscrews. Encoders used in some rotary motion modules can
be wired through the slipring such that the motor can rotate without
resulting in tangled wires. This feature is ideal for experiments which
require more than 360 degrees of rotation. The square frame allows
for installations resulting in rotations about a vertical or a horizontal
axis.
