Adept Scientific ships EndNote X for MAC OS X
Popular bibliographic software expands PDF management, simplifies reference handling and includes new customised toolbars for researchers.
EndNote® X for Mac® OS X, the latest version of the bibliographic management software used by millions of researchers, librarians and students around the world, has just been released. EndNote is the industry standard for managing literature references, creating bibliographies and figure lists automatically, and preparing manuscripts.
New EndNote X, designed for Intel® Core™, provides expanded PDF management, increased flexibility in viewing, searching and handling reference information, as well as new Mac-specific features. It is now available from Adept Scientific, the distributor and support centre for EndNote in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Austria.
EndNote X for Windows (released in June 2006) has already proved enormously popular among its large installed user base around the world. In the words of one PhD student, “There are several new features in version X that make my life easier. Dragging and dropping a PDF file onto an EndNote record allows me to integrate PDFs into my EndNote library smoothly. These new EndNote X features are huge time savers for me.”
“EndNote X for Mac OS X combines new PDF management and other features with the power of the Mac Intel Core to provide Mac users with integrated solutions for research and publishing,” said David L. Kochalko, president of Thomson ResearchSoft (Carlsbad, California), the developers and publishers of EndNote. “EndNote X gives Mac users more options in how they view and interact with their reference collections, supporting individual work styles.”
Adds Dr Paul Bragg, managing director of Adept Scientific, “What is really exciting is how much more flexibility EndNote X offers in the way you work with your references. For example, you can now view up to eight fields in the reference list display, and click-sort column headings to locate records quickly – and you can hide empty fields to save scrolling through all the details of the reference. Also, in response to user requests, four new reference types are available – Grant, Ancient Text (for classical texts and manuscripts), Dictionary and Encyclopaedia.”
This new version also lets you search EndNote libraries using the new “begins with” or “ends with” options for fields and words. EndNote X search results in Mac OS X Tiger Spotlight searches now include descriptive details making individual references more identifiable. And EndNote X offers many more ways to connect EndNote with bibliographic databases and publishing styles – more than 800 connections to online sources, more than 540 import filters and over 2,300 journal styles to make it easy to format your citations and bibliographies automatically to your publisher’s or institution’s specifications.
