Press ReleasesEndNote plans to extend popular bibliography tool to the Web

Adept Scientific is pleased to announce that Thomson ResearchSoft is currently developing EndNote Web™: a Web-based bibliographic tool for managing and citing references easily. Annual EndNote Web subscriptions will support a wide variety of users – from students writing papers to faculty publishing in scholarly journals. The addition of EndNote Web will aim to provide award winning bibliographic solutions for all users across the organisation.

When released, EndNote Web will provide a full range of bibliographic management on the Web. Users will be able to import and edit references via a personal Web account and use these references to cite in papers and create bibliographies. EndNote Web will enable users to search ISI Web of Knowledge (SM), PubMed and hundreds of online library catalogues, then help them build their personal reference collections easily. EndNote Web will include unique integration for ISI Web of Knowledge subscribers with dynamic links to “Times Cited” and related records, giving users one-click access to the latest information on a reference article.

Each EndNote Web library will be able to store thousands of records and create bibliographies in over 1,300 publishing styles. The popular Cite While You Write™ technology will be available as an optional plug-in for anyone using Microsoft® Word® to create bibliographies instantly.

“Developing EndNote Web will help a new segment of users streamline citing references and formatting bibliographies and will also provide EndNote desktop users with an online storage option for times when they are away from their desks,” said David L. Kochalko, president, Thomson ResearchSoft. “The additional integration with ISI Web of Knowledge further defines our commitment to simplify access to the highest quality research information.”

EndNote Web will be available as a standalone subscription or in combination with EndNote and ISI Web of Knowledge. The ISI Web of Knowledge will introduce a new personalisation option with direct access to EndNote Web and EndNote Web Express, a resource available at no charge to ISI Web of Knowledge subscribers. EndNote Web Express is ideal for formatting reading lists quickly and allows users to store selected references in persistent folders as well as import references from other sources including PubMed and the Library of Congress. EndNote Web Express provides a glimpse into the robust capabilities of EndNote Web.

EndNote Web will be supplied and supported in the UK and Ireland by Adept Scientific plc, Amor Way, Letchworth, Herts. SG6 1ZA; telephone (01462) 480055, fax (01462) 480213, e-mail endnote@adeptscience.co.uk; or see Adept’s dedicated World Wide Web site http://www.adeptscience.co.uk/.
