RefViz 2, the affordable text analysis and data visualisation tool for the researcher’s desktop, is available from Adept Scientific. RefViz 2 provides an intuitive framework for exploring reference collections based on content, allowing an at-a-glance overview that reveals trends and associations in references. For the user, this means not having to read hundreds, or maybe thousands, of abstracts to identify which of the literature references a keyword search returns are really relevant. RefViz 2 works seamlessly with bibliographic management software EndNote, ProCite and Reference Manager, and is available for Mac OS X and Windows.

RefViz 2 introduces Reference Retriever, a convenient interface for searching multiple data sources simultaneously, simplifying data gathering and bringing a valuable new dimension to RefViz. Researchers can now extend the reach of a single search to all their desired online sources, leaving more time for analysis and writing. The new search interface queries multiple data sources at the same time – enter the query once, and Reference Retriever identifies and retrieves relevant references from each data source, removes duplicates, and automatically creates the data visualisation. Reference Retriever saves RefViz 2 users time by eliminating the need to perform the same search on multiple data sources.

RefViz 2 also provides researchers with a powerful way to explore reference collections visually for major themes and topics. Users can evaluate large results sets from online searches quickly. An at-a-glance summary reveals trends and associations in the references, providing an additional level of analysis that allows researchers to find the most relevant citations for their papers. References can be moved easily between RefViz 2 and EndNote, ProCite and Reference Manager, accelerating the publishing process. This combination of products is ideal for researchers in any discipline.
