New EndNote 7 for Windows Release…
Offering New Connectivity and Publishing Solutions
Adept Scientific are pleased to announce a major upgrade to EndNote® – the bibliographic management software from ISI ResearchSoft – used by millions of researchers, students and librarians worldwide. EndNote is well known for introducing innovative features enabling users to search online bibliographic databases, organise references and create instant bibliographies. Now this latest version, EndNote 7, delivers authors new types of bibliographies, flexible image handling and connectivity to explore and mobilise their reference collections.
“We are pleased to provide our customers with new technologies that extend the value of their EndNote libraries, including letting our users go mobile on Palm? handhelds,” said David Kochalko, President of ISI ResearchSoft. “Our commitment to improving EndNote?s core features contributes to its premier position among researchers worldwide.”
The new features are eagerly awaited by current users of EndNote software. Leanne Wiedemann, from the Stowers Institute for Medical Research in Kansas City, Missouri said, “Thank you for listening about RTF capabilities, Palm possibilities, subject bibliographies, etc!” While Selden Deemer, from Emory University Libraries, Atlanta, Georgia enthused, ?The Palm application is something that EndNote users have been wanting for years and this is very exciting. EndNote 7 looks like a big step up.?
New features for EndNote 7 include:
Create Subject Bibliographies in Seconds
For the first time, authors can save the time it used to take creating a bibliography with topic headings by using EndNote 7?s new Subject Bibliography feature. For example, users can now simply select the field ?Author? to view a bibliography organised by author headings. The look of these new subject bibliographies can be controlled by selecting a favourite output style, choosing a sort order and a numbering scheme for the references. This feature is particular useful for users looking to update their curricula vitae and reading lists quickly, professionally and with minimum effort.
Place Images and Tables anywhere is a Word document
Users can take advantage of EndNote?s new ability to insert a figure or table anywhere in a Microsoft Word® document. Users can now search their EndNote libraries for images to place figures and tables within the text, or to create figure and table lists at the end of the document, depending upon their presentation or publisher requirements. And there are new output style settings to specify the caption location for figures or tables.
Extended Compatibility with Popular Word Processors
EndNote 7 now offers the ability to create bibliographies using StarOffice, OpenOffice, AppleWorks, FrameMaker and more. EndNote 7 scans RTF documents containing temporary EndNote citations and creates a bibliography instantly. EndNote 7?s RTF document scan feature lets users choose any of over 1,000 output styles to create the final bibliography.
Cutting-edge Connectivity of EndNote References
EndNote 7 mobilises a user?s EndNote library on Palm® OS. Users can now access their references anywhere, anytime. With this new connectivity, users can search, edit and beam references, as well as use the HotSync® function with their EndNote desktop libraries. Other features include the ability to export files in XML format and to move EndNote references to data visualisation tools to help users explore research literature visually. In addition, EndNote 7 helps users locate full text faster by connecting to an institution?s online resources with OpenURL links. And with over 1,500 content files including output styles, manuscript templates, import filters and connection files, EndNote 7 expands the ways to collect data from a wide variety of online resources and to publish manuscripts.
EndNote 7 for Windows ME/2000/XP is available to buy now. Special upgrade prices are available to owners of previous versions. Watch this space for news of EndNote 7 for Mac OS X, which is expected to ship in August 2003.
