These are just some of the applications which have been answered by users of Micro Saint, the discrete-event simulation package for Windows. The latest release will make simulation possible for a wider range of systems than ever.

Adept Scientific, the UK distributor of Micro Saint, is finding that the software is being taken up increasingly in design projects for which PC-based simulation has not been used before. Any process that can be represented in flow chart form can be modelled using Micro Saint to simulate real-world behaviour. Many of these, such as building design, would be impossible to test out other than by computer simulation.

The new Version 4 of Micro Saint has an extensive list of improved features, including a new print preview, a better search and replace engine, expanded COM Services calls and external model call capability in COM services.

Micro Saint’s intuitive graphical user interface and flow chart approach to modelling make it a tool that can be used by any designer, not just simulation experts. It makes it easy to analyse the resulting data, try “what if?” scenarios and optimise the process. Users are not bound by industry-specific terminology or graphics – Micro Saint enables you to define your own terms and customise your flowcharting symbols. The software symbolically animates the network diagram as it executes the model, and after running the model, the user can select statistical charts or other graphical representation to analyse the data which Micro Saint collects automatically.
