Error message: "Failed to create empty document" when opening a ProCite database or record.

This error usually occurs when there is a problem with the index file of your database. ProCite databases consist of two files, a .PDT and a .PDX. To resolve the problem please ensure that you copy the two files for your database to a safe location before attempting the following:

    A. Locate the .PDT and .PDX files for the problem database in Windows Explorer
    B. Left click on the .PDX file and then right click and select Rename
    C. Rename the file to have .OLD as the extension i.e. Adept.PDX becomes Adept.OLD
    D. Hold down the SHIFT key and double-click on the .PDT file and select OK when asked to rebuild the database.

You should now find that the database works correctly.
