The LE version of SmartSketch which comes with Mathcad Professional (2000 onwards) differs from the full version in the following ways:

- The LE edition does not include the import/export filters (to allow you to open and save as AutoCAD or Microstation formats).
- The LE edition does not come with the full symbol library. The LE edition includes symbols for electrical drawings, general diagrams, and general business illustrations, such as flow charts, logic diagrams, workflows, and network diagrams. The full version has additional symbols for architectural, mapping, mechanical and utility diagrams. You can create your own symbols in either version.
