When I try to open a ChemDraw file someone sent me in an email, I get the following error message: "Sorry, this was created in an older version of ChemDraw."

ChemDraw can open files created in older versions of ChemDraw, so the error message is slightly misleading. The problem most likely has to do with your email program. The person who sent you the file has attached the file using the encoding preferences set by his or her email program. Your email program may not be able to decode the encoding used. Ask the user to resend the email using a different form of encoding. The email program's Help should have further details about attachments.
