Launching Mathcad on the client yields "Cannot write data to license server." FLEXlm error: -17,13 System Error: 10038 "Winsock: Specified socket is invalid."

Causes and solutions:

A. It is most likely due a network or server problem:

- The Server is down
- Problem communicating with the server - Try pinging the server and the client from the server.
- Wrong port being used - Make sure the port is valid and not in use by another application.
- Network hostname resolution problem on the network - Try using nslookup to see what names are resolving to what IP addresses.

B. There can also be license file or options file problems:

- Server name is wrong, misspelled, or in the wrong case in the license file - Correct the server name.
- Host names are wrong, misspelled, or in the wrong case in the options file - Correct the host names.
