As long as the file is of the type that StatView can read (see below) there should not be any problems.  

DataSet (*.svd)  -  StatView dataset files
DataSet Transfer (*.ssd)  -  Cross-platform (Mac/Win) datasets from StatView

(
ViewSet (*.svv)  -  StatView views (for resuming work) or templates (for reusing views with different data))

N.B.  It might be better to use the dataset transfer option (especially when changing platforms as well).
