    MUX 2 & 4 Protocol

    Format of data after pressing data button on gauge or sending command code.

    N_MT_SZZZZZZZZ_EEEEEECRLF

    _ : Is a blank
    N : Number of input channels(1-4)
    MT : Two characters representing type of data.
    (MW=Measured value)
    S : Sign (+ of -) of data
    ZZZZZZZZ : Measurement data, 8 digit floating point format, spaces filled as zero’s
    EEEEEE : Unit of data information
    CRLF : Carriage Return and Line Feed

    EXAMPLE:
    1 MW+003.4665 inch correct data from gauge 1
    2 MW-00088.29  mm correct data from gauge 2
    4 MW +00001.55 mm correct data from gauge 4*
    3 TO  999999.99 mm error reading from gauge 3*
    RS232 OUTPUT SPECIFICATION

    The RS232C interface operates in half duplex mode and is powered from the RS232C port.
    RS232C PINOUT CONNECTIONS

    2 TXD
    3 RXD
    4 DTR
    5 GND
    RS232C PARAMETER SETTINGS

    8 DATA BITS
    1 STOP BIT
    NO PARITY
    9600 BAUD

    The 3.5mm mono socket will accept a footswitch input.  When the two connections are shorted together it has the same effect as sending ASCII “A” and executes a multiple read.
    COMMAND CODES

    Command codes sent to MUX in ASCII format:

    ASCIICOMMANDExample from MUX
    1Poll Gauge 11 MW+00013.67 mm
    2Poll Gauge 22 MW+00012.47 mm
    3Poll Gauge 3*3 MW+00015.43 mm
    4Poll Gauge 4*4 MW+00012.38 mm

    ?Current Settings1234

               * relates to MUX-4 only

    MULTIPLE READ

    It is possible to configure the multiple read, this can also be triggered by using the footswitch,  which polls whatever  gauges the user requires by sending the following string;

    x=12 Polls gauge 1 then 2
    x=10 Polls gauge 1
    x=1234 Polls gauge 1,2,3 and 4
    x=4321 Polls gauge 4,3,2 and 1
    x=0000 Polls no gauges

    After sending the commend string, the MUX returns a string showing the current setting;

    x=1234 Sent by user
    1234CrLf Sent by MUX

    Sample software for reading the MUX from Visual Basic is available upon request.

    OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES
