1.Quit the application
2.Switch to the Finder
3.Select (but do not launch) the application.
4.Select 'Get Info' from the File menu.
5.Change the 'Preferred' size to the desired amount.

Things to be aware of:

You will not be able to change the memory allocation while the program is running. So, if Step 5 above does not appear to be working, the application is still running.

Do not allocate more memory to the application than you have available on your computer. This may result in erratic behaviour while using the program.
