How to add the toolbar for ProCite 5 to Word 2000 or Word XP

The ProCite toolbar requires two files to be placed into the Microsoft Word Startup folder in order to display. From the information you have provided it may be the case that the installer has been unable to locate the Microsoft Word Startup folder and it will be necessary to copy the two files over manually.

    Please perform the following:

    1. Ensure that Microsoft Word and ProCite are both closed and launch Windows Explorer (or My Computer)
    2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Procite 5\CWYW
    3. Highlight the two files Pc5Wd32.WLL and Pc5Wd8.DOT
    4. Click on the Edit menu and select Copy.
    5. Launch Microsoft Word and click on Tools, Options and then File Locations.
    6. Highlight the entry for Startup and click on Modify.
    7. Click on the down arrow to the right of the box at the top of the window and note the entire path to the startup directory e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\Startup.
    8. Close Microsoft Word and navigate to this location using Windows Explorer.

** Please note that you may have to change your settings to show hidden files and folders in order to see the folder called Application Data. To do this click on Tools, Options and then select View. Enable the setting for Show Hidden Files and Folders. You should then be able to see the folder for Application Data in Windows Explorer **

    9. Click on Edit and then Paste so that the files Pc5Wd32.WLL and Pc5Wd8.DOT are both present within the Startup folder. If you are asked to over write a file then select Yes.
    10. Launch Microsoft Word and you should now have the ProCite menu under the Tools menu.

If the menu is still not present then please click on Tools, Templates and Add-ins and ensure that both Pc5Wd32.WLL and Pc5Wd8.DOT are ticked.
