We have just moved from WinNT to Win2000 & have MathType on a large number of machines - a few hundred copies. When someone starts up Word they get a MT command error "An error has occurred in starting MathType commands in Word. Reinstall MathType" If we reinstall MathType then it works fine for whoever is logged on at the time they install MathType. As soon as someone else logs onto the system, they end up with the same message. We had this problem when we were using MathType on WinNT & we avoided the problem by using MathType as a standalone package.
If you have a multi-user license, you should try doing workstation installs for each user on each machine according to the instructions on the web at http://www.dessci.com/support/tech/mt_admin.stm.
If you prefer to run MathType off each machine locally, you can install it locally, but use the instructions for the workstation install using a local disk instead of a server, so each user can simply use a short cut to install MathType. Placing the shortcut into the desktop folder for the All Users profile should put in on everyone's desktop. Alternately, they can place the shortcut only in the Default User shortcut so that it only appears on the desktops of newly created profiles. |
