When trying to run an assignment in MapleTA I get the error message: "Internal Error: java.lang.RuntimeException: Error reading grade properties., in unproctoredTest.Login"

This is usually due to a recent upgrade of Maple TA and is due to a error in the the postgresql file.

1. Stop Tomcat to prevent anybody from coming to the system while Postgres is restarting.
2. Open <Postgres>/data/postgresql.conf file for editing.
3. Find the following line:

#bytea_output = 'hex'

4. Change it to the following (please note that # has been removed from the beginning of the line):

bytea_output = 'escape'

5. Save the file.
6. Restart Postgres.
7. Start Tomcat.
