This can be caused by a corrupt registry key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ISI Researchsoft
Please ensure that you create a backup of your registry before trying the following:
1. Ensure Reference Manager is closed
2. On your keyboard, hold down the Windows Key on your keyboard and press the R button
3. In the 'Run' box type REGEDIT and press OK
4. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ISI ResearchSoft and highlight the key for Reference Manager
5. Delete this key and close the Registry Editor
You can now try launching Reference Manager 12 and open your database.
