In order to get the full range of Styles, Filters and Connection files, you must do the following (screen shots are for X3 but other versions are similar):
If you are installing EndNote for the first time:
1. Select "Custom" installation at the following screen;
2. Press "Next", choose a destination folder for the installation, then press "Next" again.
3. At the following screen, you will see three options with  symbol next to it. These are the additional files you can install if you wish.
i. Click on the red x and ensure you select "Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive" and NOT "Will be installed on local hard drive."
ii. Optionally, you can click the  symbol and select subdivision to install, for example, different subject styles only.
Please Note: Clicking on the  symbol and selecting particular subdivisions only is entirely optional. If you'd prefer to install everything, bypass this step and proceed directly to 4.
4. Continue with the installation as normal.
If you have already installed EndNote:
1. Navigate to the Windows Control Panel, then "Add/Remove Programs" [XP] or "Programs and Features" [Vista],
2. Select the entry for "EndNote" and choose "Change" > "Modify"
3. At the following screen, you will see three options with  symbol next to it. These are the additional files you can install if you wish.
i. Click on the red x and ensure you select "Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive" and NOT "Will be installed on local hard drive."
ii. Optionally, you can click the  symbol and select subdivision to install, for example, different subject styles only.
