EndNote will install on the following operating systems...

WINDOWS
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Windows 7

64 bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7 are also supported from X2.04 and later

MAC
OS X 10.4 Tiger (X2 only)
OS X 10.5 Leopard
OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Any computer running these operating systems will be capable of running EndNote X2, X3 and X4.

The Cite While You Write feature works with...

WINDOWS
Microsoft Word 2003, 2007, 2010 (2010 32-bit is X4 and later and 2010 64-bit is X4.02** and later)
OpenOffice Writer 3 (X3 and X4 only)

MAC
Microsoft Office Word 2004, 2008*, 2011 (2011 with X4.02 and later)
Apple iWork Pages '09 (X3 and X4 only)

*Word 2008 must be updated to at least Service Pack 1.

If you're using a different word processor, if it can save in .rtf format (most of them can), then you can use EndNote's Format Paper feature.
