Adept Scientific has released VisSim/Discrete-Event, the newest addition to
the VisSim family of simulation software products from Visual Solutions.
VisSim/Discrete-Event adds the capability to simulate and analyse systems
that are characterised by a collection of resources and the tasks or processes
that use those resources. Such systems are called queueing or discrete event
systems. VisSim/ Discrete-Event can be used to analyse simple or complex
queueing problems in a wide variety of applications, including computer
networks, airline reservations, telephone systems and ATM networks.
VisSim/Discrete-Event
makes it easy to build, modify and maintain discrete event models without
coding, using the intuitive, connect-the-blocks paradigm of VisSim. This
drag-and-drop development environment with its easy-to-understand
interface makes VisSim an ideal tool for prototyping, developing models and
presenting product simulations, while its interactive plots and strip charts
provide a visual insight into system dynamics.
VisSim/Discrete-Event
includes a comprehensive set of discrete event blocks for creating,
terminating, delaying and changing the attributes of a task; modelling system
resources and the explicit interactions between processes; and collecting
data. It supports three types of queue: FIFO (first in, first out), LIFO (last
in, first out) and transaction priority. It also supports five de-queueing
protocols, including process sharing, round-robin ordering, priority
ordering, priority-preempt ordering and priority-preempt-resume
ordering. | |
