MathSoft has just announced that Adept Scientific is the first international
distributor to do over $1 million business with the Mathcad product range. This
sum represents the value of Adept purchases from MathSoft in the latter's
financial year, which ended on 30th June 1997.
This is the first time that any MathSoft international distributor has
exceeded the $1m mark. Adept's sales grew by 23% over the previous financial
year and were boosted by an order in June from the Open University for 5000
licences of Mathcad Professional 7.
"For most of FY97 there was no major new release of Mathcad and therefore no
upgrade revenue,' said Paul Sloane, Vice President, International of
MathSoft, Inc. 'So Adept's achievement in growing 23% is admirable. It shows
the value of professional marketing and sales skills. Their success with
corporate and academic licences was impressive."
Adept Scientific has been a major Mathcad distributor since 1988, and is
MathSoft's largest international distributor in terms of sales. Adept
provides full customer and technical support for the product, as well as for the
technical graphics program Axum which MathSoft acquired in 1995.
"Mathcad 7 Professional is shipping now, and Mathcad users are upgrading
at a very fast rate," added Adept Chairman Paul Bragg. "That means
we've started MathSoft's FY98 with a major boost in sales, and I'm confident
we'll surpass last year's achievement by a considerable margin."
