Intergraph Chooses
Adept for UK Launch of
Next Generation CAD

Adept Scientific, the UK's leading supplier of technical computer solutions for scientists and engineers, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Intergraph to supply and support their next generation computer-aided design (CAD) product, Imagineer version 2, in the UK and Ireland. Intergraph Corporation, based in Huntsville, Alabama, is the world's largest company dedicated to supplying interactive computer graphics systems. Imagineer version 2 is easy to learn and easy to use, and brings more power to the engineering desktop with 2D kinematic animation, enhanced dimensioning and the ability to publish and share data on the Web.

               Cordin, Channel Development Manager, Intergraph
Computer Systems; Paul Bragg, Chairman, Adept
Scientific; and Martin Vessey, General Manager,
Intergraph Computer Systems.

"Imagineer version 2 is our flagship technical software product," said Martin Vessey, General Manager of Intergraph Computer Systems in the UK. "It addresses the need of engineers and designers for a high performance, easy to use CAD product that is affordable in price and modest in its hardware requirements. Adept Scientific's acknowledged excellence in technical know-how, marketing and customer service makes them our ideal partner in this exciting new venture."

Added Adept Chairman Dr Paul Bragg, "We aim to provide scientists and engineers with the best computing products on the market. Imagineer version 2 is an innovative CAD package that undoubtedly meets that criterion. It is backed by all the resources of one of the world's largest and most respected computer corporations, and we are proud to be associated with them."

Twice as fast as version 1 but requiring no more than a 486-compatible PC and 16 MB of memory, Imagineer version 2 offers designers and engineers a high-performance, affordable and easy-to-use desktop CAD tool. It delivers powerful engineering features that integrate with existing CAD workstation installations, and it will import, export and reference AutoCAD and MicroStation files.

"Imagineer sets the new standard for the next generation of CAD," said Tommy Steele, President of Intergraph Software Solutions. "Designers and engineers now have the power of a fully native Windows CAD seat, with embedded Web access, and the ability to read and write MicroStation and AutoCAD files, right at their PC. As a result, they are more productive, communication within the design process is improved, and the time to market is shortened."

Web Charged CAD
Web integration is built into Imagineer version 2, offering drag-and-drop access to symbols and making Web publishing as easy as saving a file. Through the Internet, Imagineer users can share drawings, receive the latest software updates and sample files, log questions and access a technical knowledge base. Imagineer version 2 comes with a viewer that can be freely distributed, so files can be shared and viewed anywhere, even if the host is not running Imagineer.

Intelligent Parametric CAD
Imagineer version 2 features the precision drawing and dimensioning tools that are essential to the design process, without compromising its ease of use. With Imagineer, a free-hand sketch can be transformed into ageometric drawing that is dimension-driven and maintains geometric relationships.

Intergraph's Imagineer version 2, supplied and
supported by Adept Scientific, is a low cost, high
performance CAD product that integrates with existing
CAD workstations to make designs more widely
available.

Imagineer version 2 allows users to develop moving mechanisms and 2D kinematic animations, so engineers can model and visualise systems. It supports user-definable dimension axes and both stacked and string dimensions, and it builds on the original version's revolutionary tools such as SmartSketch(TM), which provides visual feedback and captures design intent by establishing relationships between elements.

Familiar Interface
Imagineer version 2 is designed for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0, and uses the familiar Microsoft Office 97 look and feel that virtually eliminates formal training. It integrates with other desktop applications through OLE, and with Windows programming, email and Internet tools.

Price and Availability
Imagineer version 2 is priced at just £475 in the UK (plus delivery and VAT). Upgrades from version 1 are £120.

Imagineer version 2 is available now from Adept Scientific plc, 6 Business Centre West, Avenue One, Letchworth, Hertfordshire SG6 2HB; telephone 01462 480055; fax 01462 480213;
