Simultaneous Sampling
DSP Data Acquisition on
PCI Bus

Among the highlights of this week's DSP 96 show at the Heathrow Ramada Hotel is the new ADC64, a Digital Signal Processing (DSP)-based, PCI bus data acquisition card from Innovative Integration (Stand 218) which is supplied and supported in the UK by Adept Scientific. The first to combine a high-performance, 32-bit floating point DSP core, a broad array of analogue and digital I/O, multiple A/D converters and a bus mastering PCI interface, the ADC64 is a highly affordable platform for intelligent data acquisition system designs.

A truly innovative feature of the ADC64 is its use of multiple A/D converters. This avoids the phase errors associated with single A/D converter boards that often lead to misinterpretation of data. The ADC64 performs conversions on up to eight channels simultaneously.

Up to 64 16-bit instrumentation-grade analogue input channels are available, with -120 dB/decade anti-alias filters and programmable gain, capable of sampling at any rate up to 100K samples/sec. The board also provides two channels of 16-bit, instrumentation-grade analogue output running at up to 100 kHz per channel. Sixteen bits of high-drive digital I/O are also on-board.

For fast, continuous, gap-free multichannel data acquisition under Windows, the ADC64 supports DASYLab software. DASYLab (also available from Adept Scientific in the UK) makes it easy to create anything from simple data logging and display applications through to complex, high-speed acquisition and frequency domain analysis, and even mimic diagrams of complete test rigs or processes.

DASYLab uses iconic function blocks, wired together on screen, to build customised data acquisition applications without programming. Easy to set up and use, DASYLab gives complete control of every step, from acquisition of data right through to the final, printed report.

The ADC64's comprehensive I/O choices, speed and precision makes it suitable for a wide range of applications including data logging and manipulation, process control, laboratory testing and audio processing.

The ADC64's on-board DSP also makes this an ideal development platform. A Developer's Package is available, which includes the acclaimed Code Composer integrated development environment supporting C or assembly language programming with single-stepping, breakpoints, animated run, memory watching and much more.

The ADC64 and Innovative Integration's complete range of DSP and data acquisition products are supplied and supported in the UK by Adept Scientific, as is DASYLab software. A free catalogue of Innovative Integration DSP products and literature on DASYLab can be ordered through Adept's Literature Selector; or contact Adept Scientific plc, 6 Business Centre West, Avenue One, Letchworth, Hertfordshire, SG6 2HB; Telephone (01462) 480055; Fax: (01462) 480213.
