Adept Scientific announces a new standard in low-cost virtual
instrumentation - VIValue. This combines a ComputerBoards plug-in PC data
acquisition card with Hewlett-Packard's user-friendly HP VEE visual
engineering environment to create a powerful, easy-to-use and affordable
virtual instrumentation tool for Windows.
'Virtual instruments' aptly describes intuitive, on-screen test and
measurement and data acquisition systems made possible by the latest
generation of hardware and software. Until recently, however, this was an
expensive route to follow. Now VIValue - the result of a collaboration between
ComputerBoards, Inc., the pioneer of low-cost, high-quality PC date
acquisition boards, and Hewlett-Packard, world leader in test and
measurement - establishes the fastest, easiest and most cost-effective
visual programming environment for building virtual instruments for product
development, production test and many other applications.
For the hardware component in their virtual instrumentation solution, users
can choose from ComputerBoards' extensive offering of cost-effective
plug-in data acquisition and control boards for high and low speed A/D
conversion, analogue output and digital I/O. Cards are available with either
ISA or PCMCIA interfaces, so the virtual instrument can be run on laptop and
desktop PCs.
Hewlett-Packard's high performance HP VEE software allows the user to develop
programs by connecting graphical objects instead of writing lines of code. HP
VEE's flexibility allows the user to run existing C/C++, BASIC, PASCAL and
FORTRAN test programs, integrate almost any other Windows application
(Windows 3.1x, NT or Win 95) and use popular database, word processing and
spreadsheet programs. This powerful software supports hundreds of GPIB and
VXIplug&play instruments and comes with all the required drivers for data
acquisition. | |
