Adept Scientific announces the launch of DADiSP 4.0 for Windows. This latest
version of the powerful "graphical spreadsheet" builds on its
capabilities to import, analyse and display large and complex scientific and
technical datasets. DADiSP 4.0 is a landmark release incorporating major
changes to the user interface, the inclusion of a powerful new programming
language and full support for Windows dynamic data exchange (DDE) as well as a
host of other enhancements.
DADiSP's unique user interface allows different views of the data to be seen
simultaneously on screen in separate windows. Like a spreadsheet, each window
is updated automatically when a value changes -- except that each
"cell" can contain a data series or array of almost any size instead
of just a single value. Data can be processed by any of DADiSP's hundreds of built
in functions, with each window's graphical display providing instant visual
feedback on the progress of the data analysis.
DADiSP is used in all sorts of disciplines, wherever there is a need to work with
data sets in an intuitive and exploratory way. It incorporates all the popular
tools for mathematical and statistical data analysis with powerful signal
processing and data manipulation capabilities.
DADiSP 4.0 introduces many new capabilities and features; the most
significant are listed below.
* Full support for the Windows graphical user interface (GUI). Although
previously running under Windows, DADiSP 3 did not support the full Windows
GUI. DADiSP 4.0 now incorporates an editable tool bar, all the expected
pull-down menus and uses common dialogue boxes for all standard file and
printing operations. This means that new users can more easily pick up and use
DADiSP because it has the Windows interface that they already know.
* With version 4.0, DADiSP supports DDE (dynamic data exchange) for the first
time. Now users can more easily dynamically exchange data with the many other
standard Windows packages that support DDE, like Microsoft Excel, and also the
more specialist data acquisition packages like LABTECH NOTEBOOK.
* One of the most significant new additions to DADiSP is the inclusion of SPL, the
"Series Programming Language", in version 4.0. Previous versions
of DADiSP allowed simple programmability using macros. The inclusion of SPL
now dramatically improves the range of applications that can be tackled by
DADiSP. Paul Goossens, Product Manager at Adept Scientific, said on using SPL
"It has allowed me to do things in data manipulation and configuration of
DADiSP that would have been impossible in previous versions." SPL also
implements a new programming construct - Hot Variables. These dynamically
link formulas to variables and can contain all the standard DADiSP data types.
With the introduction of SPL, DADiSP 4.0 now combines its unique user interface
and ease of use with the sort of programmability that was the sole advantage of
competing data analysis packages.
DADiSP 4.0, as a result of its full Windows implementation, is now able to offer
comprehensive on-line context sensitive help and documentation. Graphic and
printing capabilities have also been improved with much more intuitive point
and click control of plot formatting and output layouts.
