Five cities in five days; to coincide with the launch of EndNote X5, Adept’s bibliographic software specialist, Stephanie Marshall, spent the week commencing 20th June touring the UK and Ireland meeting key users/advocates of Thomson Reuters’ popular referencing tools, EndNote, Reference Manager and EndNote Web.
Stephanie was joined on the road show by Mathilda Edmunds, Research Software Product Development Manager from Thomson Reuters. Each event offered site licence contacts and librarians the chance to have their say about current and future software releases, and gain VIP demonstrations of hot-off-the-developer’s-desk releases of EndNote X5 and EndNote Web 3.1.
The meetings were well attended and well received, with participants relishing the chance to talk to EndNote’s creators face to face, as well as share ideas and experiences with other research and information specialists. The Westlaw development team joined the last session on Friday in London, with a view to gauging interest and demand for Westlaw UK compatibility with Thomson’s referencing tools.
Following the demonstration of EndNote X5, favourite new features included the time-saving PDF viewer with the added ability to annotate attachments, plus copy and paste key information from files into records within the same screen. The file attachment and transfer capabilities in EndNote Web also proved to be popular among participants.
These meetings are a yearly occurrence and help the software developers to shape future version of EndNote, Reference Manager and EndNote Web to directly fulfil the emerging research and referencing needs of their users.
